I just got back from a fun filled weekend in Montana. I've been addicted to the stuff that "The Hunting Public" has been doing with their public Land stuff so I wanted to give it a shot myself. I don't have near the turkey knowledge or near the editing ability but I gave it a shot anyway. Day 1 and day 2 are up on my new YouTube channel and I hope you guys enjoy a look at what turkey hunting is in the west. Also, I apologize if my buddy's camera skills make you sea sick on "day 2" hahahaha.

Nice! That wind is rough once you get out of the bottoms.  I subbed for more action.  Good luck!

Thanks dublelung!

That wind definitely makes it tough. I was glad I had an idea of where that bird was the night before because we were having a rough time trying to figure out exactly where he was that morning. Couldn't hear him in the bottoms and fighting the wind on top.

Glad someone mentioned the wind on top. Called in a bird on Sunday from a deep bottom and never heard him gobble until he was up on top with us. We actually walked away from him and came back to that exact spot around 10 mins later and he was right where I was yelping my head off! We ended up bumping him before we heard him and I filmed the whole thing. Eventually called his 2 hens up to us and he finally worked his way back after listening to 3 turkeys all yelping and cackling together. He stepped out at 25 yards and the shooter missed twice. That is my first experience with not being able to hear him below us at the bottom in decent wind.

it's quite the trip! Like I said, I'm glad I had him located the night before because the next morning was a struggle. And then he only gobbled one audible time on the ground. I don't think we would have killed him if I hadn't located him the night before. We were all spun around at times.

Just curious if you're using GPS or maps when you hunt public land out your way.  Maine is very largely private land hunting--it's a real shame actually.  The amount of public land out here is dismal, and what little there is gets so much pressure (due to it being so limited in quantity).

Good to see some fresh content out there.  Keep at it. Stay safe and keep setting a decent example for future hunters.

Hey Jimmy. Yes you almost have to be using a gps with a public land map out here. There's obviously a lot more public, but the private land doesn't have to be marked or fenced for you to be pinned with trespassing. OnX Hunt maps are the best thing going. I have them both in a gps card, and the mobile hunt app. Both have their advantages. GPS is quick and easy to see where you are, but in new territory the mobile maps lets me save certain areas I plan on hunting and look at not only public/private but topography and even satellite imaging...all while not needing cell service. There's really no excuse to be caught somewhere you're not supposed to be anymore.

Couldn't agree more. I didn't want to sound like I was plugging a product--or come across as endorsing something--so I didn't mention OnX's product; however, that is exactly what I use.  Knowing where you are in the woods is an excellent skill to have.  With things like OnX maps that you can run online/offline via mobile phone or GPS available to us, I feel like my kit would be incomplete without it.

Yep! I guess maybe it sounds like I'm "plugging" them. It's just the only real choice hahaha. The other hunt map apps don't hold a candle to them.

Nah, you answered my question open and honestly.  I think it would have seemed "pluggy" had I come out and said in my first reply to you: you should really get some OnX maps going, bro, here's a coupon code--go get you some!

I'm sure we can all agree that [within the spirit of this forum] it was an honest mention.  Either way, you're dead right, it is the best option out there.  Really cool product.
