2018 Fan Mount

I had a great opening week killing 2 birds.

Bird 1 was 23lbs 11.5" beard and 1 1/8" spurs killed at around 25yds.
Bird 2 was 19lbs 9.5" beard an 3/4" spurs killed at 14yds.

The first bird had barred tail feathers in the middle so I decided to make a fan mount.  I had a thin piece of ambrosia maple that had split so I sanded it and sealed it with Tru-Oil.  I took a piece of cherry and cutout a spearhead, sanded and sealed.  All that was left was cleaning up the spurs and putting them with the beards.

Funny things w/ measurements.   my biggest fan is 27'', the bird had a huge head and huge feet , but only weighed 15 lbs, had only 3/4 spurs and a 8'' beard....all others weighed about the same but had much larger spurs and beards ,but 23'' to 24'' fans....that largest fan came late in the season so the low weight could come from an active breeding season........these were all Osceola birds
