Gun Dipping Question

I've a question that I am pretty sure I know the answer to anyway but thought I would ask in case I am wrong. (And could end up saving some money) My shotgun has wood stocks, I am guessing that they can not be dipped as the wood would swell. Am I correct in this or is it fine to get it dipped as is?

If not I want to slowly start getting it ready for next season. I don't have a lot of money so I would start with buying a synthetic stock of decent quality and then start paying about $50-$100 a month extra on my rent and on some other bills so I would be ahead of the game come dipping time and would not have to go without eating like I have had to get other stuff I have wanted in the past.

You can dip wood stocks no problem. Ive heard that tarjac does some good work. If your that hard up financially, last thing id be worried about is dipping my turkey gun. Camo on a turkey gun is certainly not required. Its more of a people pleaser than anything. I have 2 turkey guns full camo and 2 turkey guns without and have never noticed a difference either way. Sure, Id like to have my pet 20 ga dipped someday, but I dont see myself dropping $200+ for my gun to look cool anytime soon. Heck, a well worn walnut and blued steel gun has more character than most any full camo turkey gun IMO. If anything id be looking into the mossy oak vinyl gun camo kits. They turn out nice from what ive seen,are removable, and are only $25-$30.

When your only form of income is disability you are always hard up. The good part is that it has taught me how to scrimp and save to get the things I want and watch for the good deals. I have seen those stick on camo kits and have also used the gun socks they had back 20 years ago and I just don't care for them. I am not out to impress anybody, if I were I would save to buy a whole new gun not 185 to get it dipped which is what they charge for a whole new gun. My deacons son would do the disassembly for me cheaply enough so I would save there as well. This may well not even happen, it is a dream right now, first we need to get the GF's vehicle fixed and then I am saving for a 4X4 buy November, it will take a lot of scrimping but I will do it for the truck and hope to for the gun as well. May just buy some calls instead of the paintjob, I hunt from a blind anyhow and it is not a crucial, though I would like to take some of the glare from the metal and the wood stock down a bit. We all have to have our dreams and this is one of my cheaper ones.
