What are your favorite sound boards for copper pots?, what woods for pots too? Trying to make a few for my daughter and myself. Thanks, Al Baker

I like glass, slate sound boards in a Osage pot or cast If you know how to do that. I would think many different woods would work fine like walnut or zebra wood

I would start with glass or slate. Made one once with a cherry soundboard and it was a killer. You can't go wrong with walnut, maple, or ash for the pot. Good Luck!

Stick with GLASS SOUND BOARD & Walnut, Cherry or Oak for the pot. Lots of this wood around at a good price & makes a great call. Use this combo & you will be shitting in hi cotton!

Cherry is probably my favorite overall pot material. It's not as sexy looking as alot of exotics but it sounds great with most any combo

I think you will get a better sound in a 3" call

I made 2 copper pots and I used glass in one and acrylic in the other. But, probably most anything would work.

Cant beat a glass sounding board with Osage as the pot.

glass always works good dont get it to close to play surface ,, if turning the pots i would stay away from a plain walnut for first one ,, start out with good hard wood

I have a 3" copper on a zebra wood soundboard in a cocabola/bloodwood pot that a guy made for me and it's got more kills to its name than anything else I own. Might not be conventional but it's a killer!

Never messed with wenge ,,, but the padauk and purple heart should make for good sounding call

Thanks Mike. I will try a few to see what sounds the best. I believe in function, not appearance. I will work on the "prettiness" after they call in Turkeys. Al Baker
