Man, I'd hate to have you hunting on the property next to me!

Sounds great.....cadence, tone, everything, is as real as it gets!

I have friends in S. Ga. that are not close to Lonnie Mabry so I picked up some Mabry calls for them.

They gave me one of Stumpy's ceramics.  For whatever reason, I had not had a lot of interest and inclination towards using a ceramic pot.  I played around with several strikers, but the yellowheart and bloodwood strikers really make it pop (and they are the cheap strikers from that supply place in PA).  I was thinking the opposite, and started with softer wood.  All I can tell you is that the first time out I called some turkeys from a long way out with it and have had success with it since.  We went to a small parcel outside of McRae near some land that Stumpy and his father owned back then and called those birds off their land, across a power line right away, a dirt road, a paved road, through a mean widow woman's garden, carefully instructed them around a trailer or two where daylight poachers live, across a creek bottom, six barbed wire fences, a cemetery, and way over to the property we had permission to hunt.  It was better than calling Uber for turkeys.  Thanks Stumpy and Charles!

Turkeys in N. Ga., including mountain birds, and in S. Ga. like the sound of it.  I scratched my head wondering why I did not get on the ceramic train much earlier.

Mine is several years old, I am not sure what wood was used for the pot.  Perhaps it is walnut, but it is not obvious.  I need to post a pic and get Chad to tell me what it was.

Oh yes...Steelerfan and that Lyman hickory running the stumpy ceramic and the other thread with him running the Wynne slate.....I looked for one all off season and finally found one. Unreal good sounding striker. Stumpy's ceramic is the deal too!
