I personally would buy the Browning. The Maxus is backbored and with less effort, I? believe, pattern better.  Chokes are more commonly found for the Invector Plus as well. I had a Browning Gold 3.5" that was a predecessor. I should of kept it! It really shined with a Kicks GT .670 and the then popular Win HV 3.5" 2oz #5's. If the Maxus is anything similar, you won't go wrong. The VersaMax is no slouch, but to my thinking, it's not in the Brownings league.

Remington if it's a dedicated turkey gun.  It's already drilled and tapped for a Picatinny rail.  The browning, if it is drilled uses a proprietary scope base that limits optic options.  Chances are however the browning won't be set up for optics.   Plus Remington has a lifetime warranty.  I know they recently filed for bankruptcy, but even so I'd rather deal with that than Brownings horrible customer service.

I had a maxus, nice gun and patterned great, but even so I would opt for something different for a dedicated turkey gun.  If you don't need a 3.5 inch gun V3 would be a nice option.

Browning hands down. Look down a Browning Barrel and it looks like it's has been polished.

Remington quality is really really bad it's no wonder they are filing for bankruptcy. Not to mention Pro Bore chokes are hard to find.

Buddy has a Browning Maxus in bottom land , they are not tapped to install a mount.

Well, I have hunted both a few times and currently own a Maxus.

My best friend has the 22" Turkey Edition Versamax and for a pure turkey rig it is really nice, but it feels heavy. I ended up buying a Maxus because I wanted an all around 26" 12 gauge auto and I don't like the waterfowl Versamax at all. I've shot and toted the waterfowl VM a good bit that my stepdad owns and it feels like a 4x4 post to me.

My vote goes Browning, but if you want optics buy the Universal Hunter or be prepared to run a speedbead mount.

Investment bankers from Connecticut (Freedom Group) purchased a number of firearm companies (Marlin, H&R, Remington, etc.) and then promptly ruined them by  squeezing every bit of value they could out of them, leaving them in massive debt, then walking away with stacks of cash, leaving ruined companies behind them.  With Remington, this meant quality control went into the gutter and cheaply made imported parts from Mexico were used whenever possible.  Add to that faulty engineering (ex. the 597 (blow up in your hands) and R51 (won't function period) just to name two) and you have a recipe for garbage guns made as cheaply as possible.   There is a reason Remington just went bankrupt, their greedy masters ruined them and no one buys Remington garbage guns anymore if they know better.

As a final example, I offer the Remington 870.  When Remington can no longer build an 870 that works, it is time to go out of business.  A couple years ago I encouraged a friend who was new to firearms to purchase an 870 when he wanted to get his first shotgun.  The gun would not eject shells.  You had to "mortar" the gun to get them to eject.  This will of course eventually break the extractor, to say nothing of the fact that this manufacturing defect (rough chamber) makes the gun a single shot that is slow to reload.  I knew then that the Remington we all knew and loved had died.

So, Browning my friend.  I just got Browning's Ultimate Turkey (the over/under special turkey version of the Cynergy) and it is awesome!  Remington firearms should not be on anyone's shopping list.

Look at three B's..... Browning, Benelli, Beretta.  I have owned all three, as well as several Remington's.  The build quality isn't really comparable,  any of the three B's are superior.  I have a few old Rem 870's that I love,  but the new Remi's are ehh in my opinion.

Definitely Browning. My Browning's and Winchester's are the best patterning turkey guns out there.
