ORIGINAL Federal Grandslam 3.5/2/6 pb pattern.  835, polished and chromed bore, slug gun trigger job, truglo .670 Smackdown choke.
Big Al's "Take-em" Style Silhouette decoys Pro-Staff.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind te most.

The 20 pattern looks like a hevi shot pattern. It's about the size of a soccer ball.  Scary all those pellets. That combo has decapitated a couple birds actually.

Them and the XX Winn loads are the two best lead turkey loads made...until longbeards.   Lol

I never found a winchester load that patterned well in my mossy. I always had my best patterns with federal #5's and 6's both pre flight control wad and after. If memory serves me right I averaged around 100 and 130 respectively

I am a fan of the older Fed's and Winchester Supremes in 3". They always patterned well out of my 1300's.

I have quite a few boxes of the Win Black 5's and 6's stashed just in case...

They never failed to break 100 at 40 with a good choke.

Double B

Federal Grand Slams, Winchester black supremes and the earlier Win red shell 1 7/8 oz load, vintage killers all.

I used to shoot Win. Double X Mags., Federal Premium, and I don't know if anybody remembers them but, Activ was awesome in my Mossberg 500. I shoot XR Longbeards now.

30 years ago before the ten round boxes..... We used to buy shells 25 in a box. Winchester had the Double XX, magnum copper plated shot..... Remington had the 3" Nitro Mag's in the 25 in a box... I don't remember Federal...

Wasn't long I remember them making "turkey" loads ten in a box for the amount of the 25 round box.

However todays shells are light years ahead of them from yesteryear.

I also asked this in the lead shooters section.

I found some Federal Premium 3 inch #6 2 ounce loads in a gold and blue box. They don't say Grand Slam and they don't say Triple Plus Wads on the box. I was wondering were these worth buying and are they as good as the ones that said Grand Slam on the box. I have one box of the old Grand Slam 3 inch 6s with the Triple Plus Wads and they are only 1 7/8 ounce loads.

They'll be fine probably. They might be real old. Should be real deal on price. Good luck.

About a dollar a shell. How old do you think? I think I will try them.
