Winchester 1300 / Apex GT20 #9

Using the formula that is rule of thumb with TSS, your 50 yard pattern should be more like 258 in the 10".  Of course there are anomalies, but I am having an extremely hard time believing that was a true 55 yards.  The Apex loads are very similar to those being hand loaded so they should fit into this rule of thumb calculation.

I stood at 56 yards, verified with a range finder 3 times and shot. I have no reason to do anything but to state my findings.

FWIW Apex recently posted a photo of a 21" youth model 870 20ga that shot 83% in 20" at 52 yards.

489 in the 20" is believable at 50 or so yards.  In order to get 300 in the 10" at 50, according to the rule of thumb, you would need to have around 430 in the 10" at 40.

I am not trying to call you a liar, I can see where you would think that. I am just trying to say that is outside what one expects to see at those differences. You did not loose 100 pellets in 15 yards is just amazing if that rangefinder is correct

I can understand, I was blown away when I counted the holes. Like I said, I shot three patterns having never fired a single round of TSS before. So I wouldn't know whats good or not. I triple checked my ranges as I always do for accuracy and fired away. What you see is what you get. My offer still stands to shoot if your ever in West Tenn.

That's pretty neat guys but remember that is only a few shots for comparison .

Just a bit more testing maybe will show a bit different result.

Yeah that's annoying I wanna switch to 9s which are ok in two state I hunt but not ANY which I hunt every season so I need to either go with 8s or shoot different roads for just that state

Yeah I was a bit disappointed when federal did 7s and 9s as 7s in a 20ga load just doesn't have the count numbers. Ill probably try apex 8s, federal 9s and maybe the new 3rd degree. The 9s I can still use in other states

I am shooting a 12 ga. so I am sure the numbers are going to be better. Thanks for the tips. I don't know why but I have always shot 5' or 6's for turkey.

No need shooting large diameter shot for turkey. These 9's penetrate better than a #4 lead will.
