Make elk calls!  I know this is a turkey hunting forum but I've been playing with elk reeds from several call makers out west. I also have one straight reed turkey call that's as good as any "elk" callmakers. Just curious as I think I've tried most of the elk calls and there's not near as many as turkey call makers. I wouldn't mind having some made up if anybody has a good recipe for some good reeds.

I've made a couple cow elk calls.  There the ones you bike down slightly and let off as you blow it.  Very realistic sound.

I'd wager there are more guys who make and sell turkey diaphragms than elk diaphragms. Some just aren't known for it

I agree, I have a call made and marketed as a turkey call. I'm tempted to let the call maker know it's an excellent elk call. I wonder if it would offend him I was using it to make cow sounds and bugles.
