I remember a post awhile back about least favorite surface and it seemed copper got the most votes.I on the other hand love copper surfaces I think they do the best soft talk you can get and have real nice yelps. Who else on old Gobbler loves copper pots besides me? Thanks for the reply's I am just curious.

I haven't played a copper that wasn't from Mike Yingling, and as far as his go, he knocks them outta the park. Mike sure can tune a copper pot!

From other makers I've heard they dislike the stuff, and for reasons. Mike's design is a little different than most makers out there, and I think this is part to him being the copper king, copper fits his design well.

I have a glass over copper pot that I like a lot too, just some of my opinions.

I have owned at least 6 copper calls all from  different makers. The only one that I still own and  has a permanent  spot in my vest is  a Mike Yingling. The birds love it.

I've got one from CR Game Calls. It's the first pot and peg call I've tried and it's awesome. I heard that they were hard to learn how to use with a copper surface, but I haven't had any trouble with this one at all. Not to mention any striker I've tried on it sounds great.

I bought a copper from Scott Veiting. That thing was the demise of a few turkeys this past year. Had one that was just mesmerized by it. I felt like an Indian snake charmer! That, and I generally don't like copper because it's so difficult to keep running properly. Scott has it nailed. He's Mossyhorn2 on here.

Here's my Yingling calls. I put Mike's calls right up there with the best of them. Crystal, copper, tritium and aluminum.

Very nice he makes some awesome calls. I have quite a few of his and think everyone of them sounds great but copper and titanium and his crystal are my favorite. His brass is also a good sounding surface. I don't have a aluminum from him so that may be my next one from him thanks for sharing your pictures

I have one from a local call maker here in MS. I got it at a show and I loved it because it was so raspy, the first time I took it out on opening day it sounded great but it didn't have the rasp and I killed a nice bird with it that morning, now I can't any sound out of it but some squeaky sounds, any ideas?

Conditions with a fine sand paper Then go over it with a brown scotch bright. I go side to side across the call back and forth. Then condition your strikers.

Sometimes you can angle a striker too much and it won't bite good so you may need to not cant your striker as much

I condition both the call surface and striker tip with 320 grit sandpapaper. This works for me.
