It has been a long time, but I'm finally back in the business of making calls since all of the crap that happened earlier in the year. I just picked up some of the best black walnut I have ever seen to get the party started right.
So this is the making of a turkey call from start to finish. This black walnut is covered with bark pockets in the sapwood as well as the heartwood. I have enough to make 12 calls out of these two boards. After that there will be no more. My wood supplier had not even seen wood like this before...very hard to come by. The first pictures are what the boards started out as...then progressed into the finished calls. These are the first two calls finished up and ready to roll out the door. First come first served on these. If you miss out on one of the first two there are still ten more coming. I'll start a list for those ten for anybody that wants one of these calls.
