How's everyone feel about their 2011 hunt

Last year I spent most of my time scouting in Kansas and Iowa. Prospects in Kansas much better this year, since I have 3 Public spots I like. I should fill both my tags there. Last year in Iowa found a great place for this year, that I ended up losing ::) Really sucks. However, have permission to hunt land next to what I lost, and have hunted/scouted it. Has a decent amount of birds, but not near as good as the other spot. Should fill 1 bird there, but hoping I can fill the second there also. Don't have another option except Public, and I feel this is better than that. Nebraska is an outside shot, if everything goes well, however have nothing there that I feel is worth my time to hunt as of right now. Especially since I have to favor the Eastern part of the state being these will be 2 day hunts. Realisticly I should put 3 down, but I never take anything for granted with Turkeys. There's always a relief to put down that first one.

Little early for me to tell.  I have gotten more land to hunt and hope to get even more.  March and April will really let me know though.

Well...at the moment it's up in the air. The company I work for denied my vacation request this year so my trip is in jeopardy (except for our hunt Jay  ;)). They say we have too much work on the horizon, to which I replied, "I guess I need to start looking for a new job". As of now, I have a interview scheduled for a job that pays 1.5 - 2 times what I'm currently making which would be awesome if I get it. I've got my fingers crossed for the job and my trip.

Well Shane, hope everything works out for you. With the economy the way it is, getting a better paying job would be nice.  ;D Make sure they have a liberal vacation policy that starts immediately.

I told them up front that if they hired me that I would be out of town for 3 weeks. They didn't have a problem with that. Employers in my industry are desperate for experienced employees since there aren't a whole lot of us to go around. It's a long story but some fortunate events directed me into this field! :) I hope they like me enough to pull the trigger!

Well As for California, every year seems like a long scouting trip. Nothing is ever set in stone for me down here in the SD county area. But maybe I can get some of the draw hunts for up north near TRKYHTR. Now I know there is lots of birds up in that area.

I don't understand this.  Is the b/c they won't give vacation?

I see no problems in the forecast.  I should kill two in Missouri and 1 to 2 in Wisconsin, depending on the conditions when I'm there.  I am thinking about trying to squeeze another state in, maybe a Rio hunt.  I'd like to try Oklahoma, but I haven't done much internet scouting.

I am feeling pretty good about my two seasons, I WILL take vacation and hunt in both MN and WI.  I will just tell my boss where he can go.  I have earned the vacation and will use it.

Well since I mainly hunt public ground I just have to wait and see what the season brings. Do have one place that is privite and island on the platte river that always have turkeys on it.

Them denying my vacation request was the straw that broke the camel's back. There are a lot of other screwy things going on in management and some of it has been possibly illegal but I won't elaborate. As far as myself, I made a casual agreement last year to limit my time off during the year and work overtime whenever they needed me to, which I did a lot of, in order to have my usual 3 weeks off in the spring. Well they've lost some employees since last year and have made little attempt to replace them and now they say they don't have the man power to run the place without me. They just purchased 3 new printers at 1/2 million dollars each, which they expect me to run along with the ones I'm running now and for the 3rd straight year, said they can't afford to give any raises. I've been wanting to leave for some time but I guess I just needed a reason. Don't get me wrong, taking care of family and bills comes first and if I have to cancel my hunting, then I will but if I can get another job, I'm outta there.
