There is a tom straight ahead somewhere that has beaten us twice. To be honest, he's barely played the game.
There are a couple birds to the left and out of the photo that had fooled Boyd and I three times mostly in the evenings as of last weekend. Wednesday made four times. One bird may have been killed because a single came in on a string Wednesday evening before veering left at 70 yards and uphill before gobbling and drumming his fool head off just out of site but in range. He finally peeked out at 30 yards behind us behind a screen of small pines. No shot offered again.
I'm tired of this view without a tom slung over Boyd' s shoulder. These birds are making me look like a fool.
Had a real heartbreaker mid morning Wednesday when I called two jug headed, beard swinging toms in. My wife promptly missed the lead bird at 27 yards. I'm not sure who hurt the most.
