My roommate finally decided to buy his tags and I took him to the public land I've killed two longbeards on this season. We were set up beautiful, had birds hammering all morning, when unexpected this curious jake slipped right into our decoys. This is only his 2nd time ever going out, and my first time I've ever called a bird in for someone else. It's just a jake, but he's legal, and the hunt to get him was WAY cool, something my buddy and I will likely remember for the rest of our lives. I know I've read it on here plenty of times that calling them in for friends it's just as, if not more fun, than pulling the trigger yourself, I'd say that's definitely true. My heart was pumping just as hard as it ever does when I've got the gun. It's not the toms we were working right behind us, but when he came into the brand new Avian Half Strut at 20 yards  I told him to kill him, and the Heviweight #6s did the job on him, knocked him flat.

Don't apologize for shooting a Jake. It just doesn't matter when it's a first bird. Be proud for your friend and of yourself for calling him in. Great memories there. Way to go.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

Is that Chumlee from Pawn Stars?

If he was twice as good looking, was a turkey hunting fool, and made about 10x less money then he's your guy! I'm not even mad, because that's funny stuff right there. I'm an offensive lineman, so being big is my job, and boy do I like the taste of fried morels and turkey nuggets.

I'll send a few more turkey breasts if you'll send me a few one gallon ziplock full of morels.

We just had the weather finally turn again after an early spring that went cold, I'm sure mushrooms are everywhere right now just gotta go find some more. And that is a trade I would work all day long.... Ship it with dry ice. If I find more I'll PM you.

If I had a dollar for every gobbler I thought I fooled I'd be well off!
