Tagged out in Illinois this morning with a good bird.  21lbs, 7/8 spurs and 11.25" beard.  Didn't realty notice the different colors until I got him home.  I guess you'd call him a "red phase"?  BTW, had him and another one come in dead silent after I'd played cat and mouse with them all morning.
I love some mid morning hunting!

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

Congrats on a fine bird. His colors look normal to me.

Not to say I am the expert on this but I see a bunch of these "red" phase??? birds being posted, to me they look like Easterns. There are all sorts of colors within the birds and no real difference between them.

Here is what a "Red (Erythristic) Phase" looks like.
On the Farm they were call Bourbon Reds as the domestic.

He's definitely an Eastern because he came from Illinois.  The wing color was what interested me.  The tail not so much.  I've got a fan display on the wall that looks just the same.  I probably just never noticed the wings before.

Congratulations! "Bloody Williamson" maybe?

Good guess Clark but you're a county too far east.  Jackson.  Public land.
