Splicing in audio or video out of sequence to make it look like that turkey came in or big buck showed up due to the use of that call or scent or whatever. Clever edits can go a long way to make something more than what it is. Meanwhile a lot of people watching these shows (and let's face it, they are the ones buying the snake oil here) eat it up and think "hey this worked for Joe Jackass on that hunting show, so it should work for me too".
