My cousin and I got an opening day double. He shot his bird at about 8 a.m. and I shot mine, maybe 150 yards from where he shot his, at about 8:30 a.m.
I learned a couple of things: 1.) a hen is raspier than I thought they were, and 2.) your jaw will still be sore two days later if the recoil hits you in the jaw because you had no way to shoulder the shotgun and get on the bird that came in where you didn't think he would... Haha!
Overall, it was an awesome morning in the turkey woods, and I am looking forward to hunting some public land come April.
