Hot diggity we were playing mean and dirty checkers out there today fellers.

Such a neat situation transpired today hunting with my buddy Hambone. I have only seen this one other time as to the goings on that took place below.

Cliff notes:

One compact hollering fool Tom maybe 3 yrs old, toting about 10" and also dominant over a large old timer who has several pounds on the younger and totes a true ships rope.

Young one wanted to come in twice today and each time, just in the nick of yardages, the old bird would lead him around just out of range without so much as a putt.. Truly cool to see the old man showing him the ropes. I could hear the younger thinking to himself "man I want to go in and lay sweet kisses on that hen but whats Old man doing slinking away? Hmmm ummm daggumm , well ok but but but...

Finally got the old man to holler once or twice. He sounded like a reamed out over bored steam engine, just beaaautiful.   I can tell this is gonna get even more interesting , the plot is gonna get down right nasty lol.

At fly down, those older birds have plenty of hens to keep them busy and usually don't pay much attention to my calling or decoys until either much later in the morning or more likely toward the tail end of the season when willing hens become scarce. You may have to work for this bird, but it will be fun and one you'll always remember.
