When the cedars broke away to open hardwoods I stopped to listen for a minute, and soon could hear the birds coming up the hillside to roost. So I just laid down and filmed these hens fly up 15 yards from me. No toms in this group, but I know they aren't far away.

Nice thanks for posting.

Always good to know where some birds are roosting...eh?

Kind of looked like those hens were looking for another bird. Did you call to them? Or maybe they heard you walking in the leaves???

Watched a couple of your hunts the other day. Did you make your wingbone? Hen bones? Is that your main call or even only call you use?
The hens just saw me lying there not wearing camouflage so they were trying to figure out what I was. I can't use a call on public land from March 1 till the open of season, so I did not call. I do use a wingbone most of the time when I hunt, it's from a gobbler I killed a few years ago.
