SBE3 recoil

I really could notice the difference that they're claiming. Today I shot in my new SBE3 with FF3 and shot in my buddy's 835 with trs -25 which is what I've always used until this year. I was able to do a side by side comparison with 3" and 3.5" shells.  I would say that the SBE3 recoil was about 25% less than the 835.  I've never shot the SBE 2 so I can't compare them. Just food for thought. Not that it matters much in the woods. But after several boxes of turkey loads at the range...

I'll say that 3.5" in the SBE 2 isn't fun to shoot, it's what I shoot because it's the shell that patterned best in my gun. When sighting in I'll put it on a Caldwell rest because shooting multiple times without it will definitely hurt. However, as it often goes, I never feel that recoil in the woods when shooting at a bird, lol. I have a 3 on order that's coming in this summer, can't wait to put it through its paces...

I've never shot a Mossburg 3.5". My first experience with 3.5" was with my SBE 2. After that I shot an 870 in 3.5". If I'd have shot the 870 first, I'd have never even thought about shooting 3.5" shells for anything. Between those two, for me anyway, there is a drastic difference.

I've never shot ANY gun with a 3.5 shell that was "fun" to shoot. I have a sbe2 and have shot berettas and Winchester autos and they all have a punch to them with a magnum turkey load.

That's good to know.  I am picking up a SBE3 for my dad this week.  Getting excited already.

I had a SBE I and currently hunt with a SBE II with the comfortech butt stock & recoil pad.  There absolutely is a difference between felt recoil those two models. There is a huge difference between the SBE II and an 835.  It still bucks, because, well, you're shooting a turkey load.  I seem to remember reading that a turkey load had equivalent recoil to to an elephant gun, but I don't recall the source. I suppose there's a big difference between being kicked by a mule and being kicked by a pony, but you're still going to know that you've been kicked.

Pretty much all 3 1/2" shells pack a punch no matter what shotgun you're shouting.

A 12 gauge 3.5 has approx 54lb of recoil energy. For comparison a 300 mag has like 32lbs.

........... And a .375 Wby has about 60 lbs, a .458 Lott around 70 lbs and the .460 Wby right about 100.........

So a 12 ga turkey gun isn't quite up to par with some of the elephant whompers and mudhole stompers.  But it sounds cool to say it......

I shoot 3 1/2 inchers from both an SX2 and an SX3..........   I really don't consider either of them to be real hateful on the back end.  The SX3 is lighter and does have a bit more snap than the SX2.   But the inertia guns will never come close to being as easy to shoot with heavy loads as the gassers.
