I was getting my youth 20ga ready today and checking over everything to take my 8yr old son on the youth hunt Saturday. I've used this gun with my Burris FF3 last year with no issues. Well after pattern and zero checking I went to oil the gun and wipe it down and noticed the FF3 to be loose on the base. After further examination I learned the stupid thing had plain broke! The recoil I guess jarred the screws and stripped out my 336 base threads. This is the threads that hold down the sight itself and not the screws that hold the base to the gun. I made mad dash to my gunsmith and he fixed the issue by retapping the base and the sight to add bigger screws which he locktighted on also. He told me that was the second Burris base he seen do this in the last week. The other was a FF3 mounted on a pistol. I've never had problems with Burris products in the past and wondered if anyone has had a similar issue? Maybe it is a coincidence that two in the same small town broke in the same manner?
