I hope members here enjoy the following poem that I will take time to post for you. It is about 2 Spring turkey hunters that I have seen a good 12 or more times over the past Springs. I wrote it out this morning.
2 veteran Spring turkey hunters park at Barron Road and not (South)--
One asks me "WHERE ARE YOU GOING" with his loud mouth.
As I bike in, I yell back-" WHERE THE TURKEYS ARE"!--
To my area I know they will walk and that is far.
I bike to the fields around old Wilkens Pond.--
For years, I have hunted here and to it have grown quite fond.
But always these 2 turkey hunters arrive here.--
And sometimes they see me and still set-up too near.
Other days-one hunter takes one side of this huge field and the other is on mine.--
He sits in his favorite low point on the field edge and with that, I am not fine.
Safety first and I soon get up to go.--
I have other areas in mind and go with the flow.
Late last Spring, I saw 4 light red wads out near his low depression.--
He took over the limit! To my Brother in law- this I did mention.
I hope to take another gobbler here---but that is up in the air.--
Both these guys probably take over the limit and that is not fair!!
I hope members here enjoyed that poem. I try to hunt the open woods now- but after a rain or during a light one-- I am again in my favorite field!
