Mouth Call Placement

I saw this little paragraph and diagram and it made me curious. Is it usually better to get the call back a bit? I normally have my call a little forward of what this shows, but I can push it more towards the back of my throat and have no problems with gag reflex.... For the guys that are really good with a diaphragm, do you ever move the call forwards or backwards in your throat for different calls?

I call w both full size n cut tape. I prefer the full size. I never move the call it sits in the soft pallet part. Not sure if that helps cause front n back might be relative to who's speaking about it

Off of one of the members here- I had a hard time positioning the call, they seemed to large for the top of my mouth. He suggested a youth Hank's diaphragm and it works!! The smaller diameter made it fit properly. Goes to show what fits best for you stick to it but take the time to experiment.

It all depends on the call and the sound I want.  I generally keep it forward but sometimes move it back and that tends to take out some of the rasp and you get a little deeper tone.

Mouth call positions are prett much all relevant. I sometimes tip the back of the call up with just the back of the tape touching the roof of my mouth and the reeds way low. I do this if I want to add a little kee kee or get a higher pitched yelp. There's a bunch of different ways to place a mouth call and change up the sounds.  There's really no right way IMO.
