I bought a Hoppes boresnake but I cant pull it all the way through the barrel with the turkey choke in. Is this normal?

I usually swap to a factory flush for cleaning. I've had brushs not go thru chokes.

Yep..it usually won't go through a turkey choke...when I pattern I will shoot a few...then change the choke to imp. Cylinder and pull the snake through...then put the turkey choke back in

Izzyjoe

it not a good ideal to use with a tight choke, cause cleaning bristles are sized down, and it will not work as good as it should from there on. Changing to a more open chokes is the best option, and cleaning the turkey choke with bore brush is the best way I've found. I've actually had to scrub the plastic fowling out with a piece of scotch brite, and a wood dowel rod.

Do you guys pull the boresnake through dry or have some solvent in the barrel first?

Thanks!!!

jed clampett

I pull mine through dry...just for a quick clean up at the range

I use the bore snakeafter every shot and i pull it through the turkey choke.  It takes some effort but that's the way i've always done it.
