I just wanted to take a minute to show off this slate I received from Bill a little while back.  As most everyone knows, I am a fan of his calls, and talking to him over the summer, I was expressing my concern that a lot of the newer slate calls out there sound more and more like glass calls, so I was looking for a slate that was a bit more subdued and more realistic.  So, eventually Bill sent me this Bocote slate over glass that just nails that sound.  Don't get me wrong it still has a great pop to it when you play it, with a fantastic rollover, but it just sounds more like a real turkey hen to my ear, and just really hit the sound I was looking for.  Play this baby with a dymondwood, purpleheart, snakewood, maple...anything you want, and it just sounds like a turkey....

Nice looking call Jgarrett.  I have a cedar slate coming soon and I can't wait. It will be my first lyman pot call. I have some of his strikers and I love them. Top notch!

noisy box call that seems to sound like a flock of juvenile hens pecking their way through a wheat field

Great looking pot. Bill definitely has a good ear and puts out great calls...

Congrats on the fine pot call.

I have two of Bill's chestnut slate over glass pots. You ask why I have two? The first one was so good I had to have a backup in case something happened to the first one.
