A Sinking Ship

Here we go... Riddle #2.... enjoy!


SOS! Fifteen people are trapped aboard a ships that's going to sink in EXACTLY 20 minutes.
Their only chance for survival is the five-person life raft stowed on their vessel.

To make matters worse, the waters around the ship are teeming with man-eating sharks,
so swimming to safety is out of the question.

A round trip to the nearest island and back to the boat takes NINE minutes on the raft.

How many people will live to see dry land?



**no you cant overcrowd the raft and have them sit on your lap! LOL **

-5 leave on the first trip and one comes back to get 4 more
-after dropping those 4 off 1 comes back to get 4 more
-after dropping those 4 off 1 comes back and gets 4 more

5+4+4=13


Of course if the ship is within sight of the island then they all see dry land.

On the first trip, 5 people are in the raft... but only 4 are left on the island, as 1 man
has to take the raft back to pick up the second set of people
On second trip, again 5 in the boat, only four left on the island with 1 man to go back to get the last few
Now you are 18 minutes --- only 2 more minutes til the boat sinks BUT you can get 5 people on the boat..... BEFORE it actually sinks...
so 4 + 4 + 5 = 13 in the 20 minutes...

Lets have a moment of silence for the 2 that didnt make it!
