Speedbead and FastFire question
January 27, 2017, 04:25:50 PM
I talked to Burris today about getting a speedbead mount and a fastfire for my Franchi Affinity 20--they said they are working on a mount for the 20 but not yet. They said that the 12 Affinity may work but they were not sure. They also said they recommend the 8moa dot for the shotguns----what say you all ?? Thanks Paul

I did a write up about fitting the speedbead to my 20ga affinity. It wasn't too hard, but access to a mill helps.

I went with the 3. The 8 just seemed too big for my liking.

3 here , the 8 was to big to suit me. It covers up a lot of the bird at 40 yards.

FWIW a minority opinion here...
I have both a 3 MOA and an 8 MOA on shotguns. To my aging eyes (20/20 with astigmatism), the 8 is much easier to "acquire on target." In intense sunlight and with a illuminated target, the 3 MOA even on it's brighter settings is just plain harder to find.
As others have said, the 8 MOA does cover a much larger area of the target. However, I find that that I'm able to use it on dimmer, almost translucent settings that allow me to see portions of the target that would otherwise be obscured by the dot.
I wish Burris and others made a 6 MOA. That'd be the ticket for scattergunning turkeys.

Did you tell Burris you were going to be using the sight for hunting turkeys? Reason I ask is that at one time they were making a big push for the FF site to use on shotguns for duck hunting and wing shooting....I can see where a larger dot would be good for that....but for turkeys 8 MOA is just too big.

If you shoot a tight turkey gun like I do you almost have to go with the 3mill..I have tried the larger dot and don't like it,,,,way to big for a turkey sized target!! Just me experience,,best longbeards
