reducing trigger pull on 870

has anyone messed with their trigger group on an 870 youth to get a lighter trigger? or does anyone know of a lighter spring that you can buy aftermarket?

I put the patriot sear spring in my 870 20 ga and it definitely made a noticeable difference on my gun.

I thought this was a little pricey when I first ordered it, but after the install I was more than happy with the investment.  I went with a the Timney Trigger Fix for Remington 870.  The kit includes three different springs to allow you to select the pull weight that most closely matches what you are looking for.  I have a dedicated 870 that either wears a 21 inch smooth bore barrel for turkey hunting or a fully rifled barrel for slug hunting when visiting IL.  In both of these configurations I'm shooting at stationary targets and wanted to emulate a rifle trigger to the extent practical.  This kit delivered... the trigger is now as good as any of the stock triggers on my production rifles.  I also ordered a Remington shotgun trigger assembly/dis-assembly tool from Brownells to help with the install.

I just shoot the regular trigger with mine and have no problem with it...i could see were people may want a different trigger...

I've done two of these Timney triggers now and like them very much.  The trigger pull is adjustable and I set mine to 4 lbs.  The sears are better than the stock sears on my two guns giving a major reduction in creep, and the Timney triggers had noticeably less, but not zero, take-up. They are, as ODT said, as good as most stock rifle triggers. That said, the replacement springs are much cheaper than the Timney triggers and might be all you need.
