Good snake boots?

I dont know what kind I even have but bought mine also for when I first went down to florida, from MN don't need them other wise. Don't know how the zipper one are for water proof, but will be looking at them for my next boot. Because when you get back to camp from putting on ten miles you would like them boots off fast. And it is a bitch unlaseing them sometimes. Thats why i think the zipper ones would be nice, something to think about.

I have been wearing redheads for years , pretty dry boots also
They not rubber mind you but I am happy with them
And got struck last year by copperhead and they paid off
Won't go without them now

I use the Red Heads also. Got 5 years out of the first pair, on my 2nd year with the ones i have now.

It doesn't matter what kind you buy, they all will leak after a couple seasons of extensive walking. Buy what feels best and be prepared to replace them if you walk through water.

I'm a big (fat) guy, and have big calves, most snake boots are too small in the calf and I can't wear them. Any snake for big legs?

Don't know if they count as snake boots but I mostly wear the all rubber Lacross Burley which is knee high.  I have other gore tex/leather/fabric but I can count on the Burleys not leaking.  They get hot but they work for me.

I have muck woody armour & they work......Been hit before but not great for hiking. Got a pair of Danner steadfast that I really like. Almost like wearing tennis shoes.

For big calves, really one of the old school rubber ones would be best.  The redhead or cabelas version, they stopped making them a couple of years ago.  Can type that in on ebay and might be able to find some.  Best waterproof ones and they last, but they are really stiff.  The new muck Pursuit snake boot  looks like it might can acomodate a larger calf.  I have fairly large calves and a 13 foot, and have tried a many a snake boot and own several.  The Bogs Diamondback is okay, but may be too tight on a really big calve.  They are waterproof and last as well, but again are stiff.  Bass Pro has a newer redhead boot that looks to be a really good one (the fangtough one), but not sure how tight they are yet.  They also say snakeproof through the shaft, but nothing about the foot.  If they are fully snakeproof and fit, that might be the one.  They look to have the same sole as their tracker 6" boots, which I have owned several pair of that are extremely comfortable and last.  Just a matter of the snakeproof portion, fit, and how well the rest of the boot stays sealed over time.

I have tried several different brands over the years and for me, nothing I have worn compares to the danner pronghorns. I'm on my fourth pair now.  I do an awful lot of walking, wading creeks and hunting around lower areas that hold water here in Florida and they have held up very well.
