On a recent trip to Cabela's I found one of these decoys in the bargain cave. I figured it was worth a shot at that price so I grabbed it.  The issue I have with it though is that when the stake is inserted in the decoy it just doesn't feel stable.  It doesn't take much to cause the insert inside the decoy to slide around, and when it does the whole thing flops over to the side, or pointing straight up in the air.  Hopefully that describes my issue.  Anyone else dealt with this particular decoy, and if so did you have this problem?  I've boxed it back up and am considering a return.

did it have the rubber piece on the stake that you can slide up into the decoy ...that takes up the slack...

Yeah, it did.  It's tough to explain, but it's not the stake itself.  The issue seems to be the part of the decoy the stake slides into.  It doesn't feel like the stake "locks" in to anything, just rests against the top of the decoy.

They do just rest against the top of the cone inside. If yours isn't stable that's a QC issue. There should be a screw on top to hold that thing in place. If it's broken there, it'll probably cause the same problem you speak of. I had one but ended up giving it away when I moved over to the Montana decoys. Don't quote me on the screw thing though. It's been a while since I had it. Might have been a different decoy I'm thinking of. I do know there's a plastic done in it though that should be solid.

They're not designed to hold air. It's designed to blow them up to get the wrinkles/creases out and that's it. I did read where a guy silicones around the stake hole and the air valve and got his to hold air though.

I have seen guys use spray house foam in "inflatable" decoys, not what you have but his Avian-X would no longer hold air after some stray pellets... It always had a funny crook in it's neck and he never let the air out during the season.

I have 2 of the these decoys and i don't use the decoy stakes , i use arrow shaft on mine ....

Yeah, that seems to be the issue.  The cone inside the decoy is very loose.  I've contacted HS customer support about it, but haven't heard back yet.

You have a early model. My buddy put a copper tube in his to fix that. Tape the stake and no rattles.

Sorry, just now saw your reply.  I think I have some copper tubing at home, I may have to try that before I return.  Thanks, that helps a lot.
