We had bad storms with 50 mph winds and heavy rain. Around where I live near Charlotte, NC We have been without power since Tuesday April 5. It was still pretty windy yesterday. This has really hurt my opening week of turkey hunting. School was cancel today so I had to stay home with mt 10 yr. old daughter. Today was a perfect today but I did not get to hunt at all. My daughter did not want to go hunting this morning so we sleep in until 8:00am The power finnally came back on at 11:00 AM today. Tommorrow is a half day for my daughter at school. It is a teachers work day. So I will not get to hunt in the morning. But my daughter has agreed to hunt tommorrow afternoon. So I can not wait. See will have the first shot and I will back her up. Then I will have Friday too hunt in SC. Saturday I will be hunting the NC Opening Day in a real good spot. Good luck to everone hunting. See Ya'll, Mike

I was wondering how everyone was doing down there after seeing the radar loop of that multi-state line of storms.  Man it looked bad and then they were saying that it was moving at 70mph, dropping a few tornadoes and nine reported deaths.   Hope the rest of the Carolina and Tennesee guys and families are OK as well.

Wife and I had driven down to Ocracoke Island on Sunday for a couple of days.  Had to leave Tuesday morning to pick up youngest daughter in Creswell (at the 4-H camp).  The wind blowing rain and sand across NC12 on Ocracoke and Hatteras Islands was fierce.  The ferry trip from Ocracoke to Hatteras surprised me - it was very stable in spite of the wind and gusts.  No damage here except to trees and power-lines.  Hunting on opening day, this Saturday morning, just about ready except for tick treating my clothes.
"I admire a good turkey hunter chiefly because such a man displays qualities that we usually associate with pioneer America-patience, enthusiasm, woodcraft, game sense, and a quiet hardihood undaunted by rain, by cold, by long tough miles, by disappointment."

Got somemore bad weather Saturday evening. We had some hail the size of quarters. Anyone else have bad weather.

That storm on Saturday the 16th was the worst one I can remember in 27 years.  I am going hunting in the morning - be interesting to see what the farms and the pinewoods look like.  Bet most of my deer towers are down.

I hunted most all day today.  Scouted and looked at all the deer stands on two farms and a pine wood tract during lunch - not a single stand damaged!  Can you believe that - homes and businesses everywhere around are destroyed and I could not even find a limb on the ground at the hunt club.
