Have a new client, one that I do not know that well yet, although I have treated a few of his animals. I actually forgot I had talked to him about turkey hunting back in the spring. I think I remember him telling me he makes his own calls. Never really discussed what, or much detail. I treated a sick cat for him last week and he brought the cat in today to tell me he was doing much better. Then he handed me a plastic sack. I opened it and found two hand made slate calls with 2 handmade strikers. Very nice calls that complement each other - one is lower and raspier, the other is a little higher pitched.
Nicest thank you I have received since I got a set of first American Edition Lord of the Rings trilogy books by a professor client (don't judge me, I know I am a nerd). I do rank the calls higher as they are custom made and will be used a lot more. I plan on sharing pics of my first birds with each.
