I recorded this little sample of my newly acquired Mark Sharpe wingbone in my back yard, just messing around. I did adjust my hand placements so there are some sequences that are "better" than others. I hesitated to share this as I didn't want to disparage Mark's wingbone's with my lack of skill...lol..... I am approx 25 yards away from my cell phone recorder, trying to play softly. I am having fun learning to play this call and hope to be good enough to hunt with it by March.....wish me luck!!

Nice!   And I don't think you need luck after listening to the sound file.  Your well on your way, if season opened tomorrow I wouldn't hesitate to hunt with it.   And by March you will be even more proficient with it.

Have fun with it and keep doing what your doing by experimenting with different things.

Hey, thanks guys, nice to hear from others that I don't sound like something other than a turkey... I love practicing with it, so I am hopeful that I will get better. Recording myself in the woods has been helpful too, I will continue to do that as I progress.

Best thing you can do is record the way you are.  You can actually see what it sounds like in the woods and what the birds would hear.  Keep going, you can hunt it as Mr. Ronnie stated and by March you will be really ready to go.

It certainly helps tremendously having a well built call such as Mark's, but I'd say you played that wingbone very well. Great wingbone + good caller = deadly combo!!!!

Thanks again guys, definitely feeling more confident with the call. Take this FWIW as I have limited experience with wingbones and trumpets, but my impression so far is that the wingbone call gives me a wider variety of tone, while being slightly trickier to play consistently. At this point my ears prefer the wingbone.
