"You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you." - Deuteronomy 4:2

Everywhere I turn, I hear people saying things like:
•The Bible says "money is the root of all evil." Well, guess what? It doesn't say that. If you'll take a closer look, you'll see that it says "the love of money is the root of all sorts of evil."
•Jonah was swallowed by a big fish. It never says a whale.
•Eve ate the forbidden fruit. It never says an apple.
•God does not guarantee that "all things work together for good." Do you think for people in hell things have worked out for their good? He declares that all things work together for good "for those that love God and are called according to His purpose." This is a significantly different meaning. In other words, things most certainly work out good for you if – and this is a big IF – you are a follower of Christ, willing to trust in His plan, willing to trust and to seek to fulfill His will. Under those conditions, all things do work together for good!

Man has added and taken away from the Scriptures since they were written, sometimes out of ignorance, sometimes to suit their particular needs. One would think these little additions and subtractions may seem like no big deal, right? Wrong! Take a look at today's Scripture and see what it says.  Not only are we commanded not to add or take away from His Word, but Revelation 22:18-19 tells us, "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll."

I believe God is pretty serious about this point, don't you? Read the Bible yourself and, with the help of the Holy Spirit, you will find the truth – the real truth.
