Me calling

A short clip of me on a trumpet. I have a long ways to go, but I did call in three toms with a trumpet this season. Two of which I killed. Feel free to critique and give advice. I'm never gonna get better if I don't learn what I'm doing wrong.

What call were you using??

Cadence is fine.. low pitched for my liking ... Sounds like Gobbler yelps - which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Practice makes perfect!!! Like you said, if you called in and killed birds, that's really all that matters.  :icon_thumright:

An AGE African Blackwood. Not sure how to make it higher pitched...

pappy

Terry try placing the tip of your finger in the bell end while you yelp....it will get up there in pitch, but you will have to practice pulling it out as you drop the yelp.....or some guys raise the bell end up some which will close off the mouthpiece a little and try that.

If it were a Buice , you could just change out the mouthpiece..

You killed birds... that is what counts the most.

Is it possible it's the harmonics of my basement? I just ran it off the back deck and it sounded a good bit higher. My neighbors might not be overly happy right now though...

It's definately the acoustics or the recording device. I know that call is higher pitched in person. Recording trumpets is tricky. Best way I've found is outside and at least 15 to 20yds away from the recorder.

troutfisher13111

I will make another recording outside when I get home. I am more worried about cadence and realism

antnye

I think your cadence is fine. Sounds great!

Really looking forward to the matching T-5!

I cut the blank last night. Will start drilling it tonight. Should have it done by the weekend.  :icon_thumright:

Sounds good to me, especially if gobblers died as a result of its use.

That will kill turkeys all day.

Nothing at all wrong with that. You sound really good on that trumpet. No doubt why you called in gobblers.
