I've read that the wood grain in a box call lid or paddle should be nearly straight up and down, or to some near perpendicular angle out to about 45 degrees. Agree? Disagree?
If agree, (and I never find grain perfectly perpendicular), in which direction should the grain be oriented? If looking at it from the handle end should the grain be slanted/leaning to the left or right?
And if the grain should be slanted to the left or right, wouldn't one side always be wrong on a double sided box call?
Your input would be appreciated!
