I decided to head down to where I will be hunting opening day check on the gobblers. I got there right at what would be shooting time and I was greeted by a distant gobble. This was the first real gobble I have heard since December when I hunted in WI......... boy did that sound good, it was music to my ears. I checked out a few more spots and once again I was greeted with gobbles in the distance.
Abot 7:30 we decided to head down to check out a field that is close to the property we hunt and typically holds a large flock of wintering birds from the area. Needless to say we were not dissapointed as we watched a parade of approx 50 birds enter the field and head over to the cattle for some easy feeding. There were groups of hens and gobblers all over the field............. what a sight for sore eyes. there were at least 15 strutters in the group. We watched for them for quite a while from a distance with binoculars and what a treat it was.
I start hunting April 11th and it can't get here soon enough.
