I have never messed with tube calls before, figured I better do it before I get too old to turkey hunt...lol....I recently got a Gulp from Pappy, honestly I have nothing to compare it to, but this call is really surprising me, easy to blow and sounds awesome. I was wondering how the 3, reed hold-down o-rings would make a difference in the tone of the call, but believe me they do, it is a lot of fun to mess with the different positions as it results in slightly different tone and playability. The call is very well made, and Pappy is a pleasure to deal with. Back to the tone, Man, this thing makes a sweet yelp, from a simple high pitched yelp to a complex raspy one. The thing I noticed while playing it in the woods is the depth of tone, filled with character, looking forward to hunting with it. With all of this being said, it is also apparent that the call is an instrument and takes practice in both playing and call set-up. The reed tension makes a huge difference in playability as well as tone, if you like to tinker these things are a blast. I know I need to add a picture, will do that tomorrow....mine is made from Osage Orange.
