Quote from: owlhoot on May 04, 2016, 10:21:44 PMYou got to like the longbeard shells no doubt for a lead shell they do shoot a mean pattern and are cheap so a lot of people can buy them .The tight patterns hopefully will help those who don't pattern , which is quite a few. You can also expect them to be able to kill further out for those who have been in the situation of not having the range right Which is probably very common so many birds may die which could have been just wounded with lead loads that don't pattern as well. You know those 2 or 3 shots you hear sometimes. They apparently can help with a bad shot as in hitting a twig which would usually throw a pattern all to heck. Very lucky there. So all in all the loading will do a good job for what is was intended.Oh, if using a 835 you may have a gobble gobble click as a friend of mine did so be ready to shuck another one in. He wasn't.
Quote from: dzsmith on May 05, 2016, 07:29:06 PMive fired 3 entire boxes of long beards between hunting and play. all 3 were from different lots and 2 were different sizes. they all fired. my friend with the Mossberg has fired more like 5 whole boxes if not more....it only happened once, and he never even assumed it was a shell.....on the same subject...I had my first click this year deer hunting with a Remington core lokt. on a 146" ten point. fortunately all he did was take one more step after I bolted another round. HE GONE!
Quote from: coyote1 on May 08, 2016, 11:57:16 PMCongrats on the bird! The long beards are a really good shell. I'm thankful i was shooting them yesterday. I pulled a 30 yard shot low on a gobbler and he stopped at 53 yards to offer a follow up shot. The #5's hammered him, dropped on the spot.
Quote from: dzsmith on May 09, 2016, 12:51:30 PMI came from shooting nitros for a couple years. 71 dollars for a box of ten. im putting more pellets on paper with longbeards than nitros in 3" shells
