Guys that run FF protectors...

......Do you have any problems with the sight loosening up/ poi shift now that the 4 pins that normally  hold the sight in alignment only hold the protector? Just installed a protector with my ff3/336 combo and didn't realize the pins now only hold the protector and do not engage sight. Just the 2 mount screws hold the sight. Never had a protector previously with this setup, just curious if they tend to loosen like that. I did notice you could move the sight a little to line up the dot with my laser bore siter as I tightened the screws down. Everything seems good and snug after assembly so I don't anticipate any problems, but I did use the rubber gasket under the sight that I never used before I figured it would help keep it tight. Normally I install the 336 base and sight before every season (dual purpose gun) and it is almost dead on with only a minor adjustment. I don't think that will happen now without the pins aligning it. That's ok because I would rather have the peace of mind with the protector.

I did this year when trying to pattern my SBE2. On this gun I have a SpeedBead mount, protector, and sight. I only used the gasket between the protector and mount. I only had one of the gaskets and debated on where to put it, I obviously chose wrong so I contacted Burris to get extra gaskets and they sent me 3. I am going to gasket between each connection and then see if it holds. I am also going to blue loc tight the threads on the mounting screws. I have a SBE with 336 base, gasket, protector, and then sight and so far have not had any problems going on 3 years but I think I will pull sight after season and apply gaskets between all connections. Good luck with your set up I know that I love hunting with the FF, IMO I think its the best sighting system out there for turkey hunting.

Thanks for the reply Ridge Rooster. I normally run the FF3 on the 336 mount without a gasket but I figured without the pins holding the sight with the protector installed I would put the gasket between the sight and protector. I was thinking it would cushion it a bit and give it some grip. I also used a little thread locker on all the screws. Don't think I will have any problems, Just wondered about the sight moving around now that the pins no longer hold it. Thanks again for the info!
