I took off Friday to pattern a few shotguns, it was a little windy, but not bad. I tried some 3rd degree shell in my new to me 11-87, first thing I noticed is it shot low at 40yds. But I'm not surprised, cause a lot of them do. I was using my truglo 665 choke, and the 3rd degree was terrible at 40yds. 70 in 10", I wish now I would have tried the factory full choke. I will say that the pattern looked very good at 25yds. I tried some Rem premier #5 2oz. Loads, cause I had some to burn up, and I left my box LB 6's at home, and that's what I was really wanting to try! I even tried some Win sxp 2.75 #5's, and they had a nice 30 yd pattern, but fell short at 40yds. 72 in the 10", but at 30yds in went 208 in 10". I thought that was a big loss in 10yds. Maybe it was just me, but it seemed like the win 2.75 5's kicked more than any of the rest, but they were the last ones I tried, so I was getting beat up by then! I also shot my Stevens 94 single, it has a mod choke, and using the Fed Hw 2.75 7's, it put up 64 in 10", so I tried it at 30yds, and it went 95 in 10" with a nice even pattern. Next time I'll try some 3" hw 7's, and Try the Lb's in the 11-87.
