Question about gobblers strutting
April 04, 2016, 08:03:01 AM
I have a curious mind. Does anybody know why some gobblers will till their fans left or right and some will keep them vertical? Is it a dominance thing? Is it a nonverbal communication for breeding?

As Gobbler's approach a hen, they want their full fan facing her, hence "tilting" his fan towards her, depending on what direction he coming from.

I've heard they kinda "point" at the hen they are trying to impress.

My grandsons get a big kick out of watching toms do this when we are hunting...they are in high school.
They call it the "Angle move"....as in "he's putting the angle move on her".

Yep, making himself look as good as he can. Angle move is a good way to put it.
