Let me start by saying I can't post every pattern pic I've shot over the last month or so. I'll post the numbers in a follow up post, and put the picks of what I plan to hunt with this year here. I've shot over 80 rounds in the last month, mostly long beards and mag blends, with both a clean(deep cleaned) and dirty barrel. The gun is an m2 with a 21" barrel, steadygrip stock, and an aimpoint 9000sc red dot. Shells were all 1 3/4 Longbeards in 4, 5, and 6, and Hevi 13 magnum blends. I was set on using the blends, or 4s, but couldn't quite get them to shoot the way I wanted. So I've settled on the longbeard 5s, with either an Indian creek .665 or a wrights No.3. I need to do more testing with the wrights. Now for the pics.
The best choke with the 4s was the Indian creek.
I had zeroed the aimpoint with the 5s, planning to hunt them this year. Here's two typical patterns from that combo.
Then I tried the wrights for one shot with a very dirty barrel and got this. I need to test it more, but if this is consistent, I'll be hunting it this year.
The best choke with the 6s was the Indian creek again. Here's an avg pattern from it. Also of note, the sumtoy was right behind it with an avg of 205.
The mag blends shot like crap as far as I'm concerned. The best pattern I got from them was from the sumtoy. The rob Roberts shot in the 160s as well, and was more even, but I didn't get a pic of it.
I'll make another post with the avg numbers of the other chokes n patterns.
