Took a trip down do Florida last weekend and killed a super nice Osceola with 1 5/8" Spurs and this weekend I made it down to Alabama to hunt with my dad and brother. Got on a bird first thing and just could not pull him off his hens. Came out around 10:30 for some breakfast and hit the woods again around 2:00. Struck this birds around 3:30 and he was interested but not exactly burnin it down to get to me. Moved on him two or three times and finally he flew out of the cutover he was in and landed at 60 yards In the timber with me. I didn't have a shot and he stayed there strutting and drumming for 10-15 minutes before walking off down the hill. I let him get out of sight and gave him a couple clucks and started scratching in the leaves. That did the trick and he came in gobbling and strutting till I pulled the trigger at 30 yards. Not a huge bird but he surely was a fun one.

You lucky guy you! Lived down there for years, only got to hunt public though, good results were hard to come by.

It's by far the toughest place I've ever turkey hunted. Very rewarding when you finally knock one down though.
