Looking to purchase a FFlll for my SBEll, which dot size do you prefer?

Couple of threads on this that are pretty long if you do a search for it. It's a mixed response but seems the 3 is a bit more popular. I personally like the 3 and think the 8 is way to big

Thanks for the response reynolds, that's kinda what I thought might be most popular. I actually did a few searches and got a little overwhelmed with all the search results.

Sure man. It comes down to preference obviously. I like a small as possible dot so I can aim more precise at longer ranges. That's just my preference though

Link has a pic that can give you a pretty good idea of the two sizes.  Just put a FFIII on my SBEII as well and really like the 3 but like reynolds said its more personal preference.

Thanks for that great Iink kwcb, kinda feel silly now for starting another thread on a topic that has clearly been dealt with.

No problem man.  Just went through the same thing trying to decide.  Found this link and it sealed the deal for me on the 3.

One thing I will say about the 8 is that it can be very helpful in range estimation. I shoot a 20 and if the dot fits inside the gobblers head im inside 40, blocks it out and im 40 or more away. Not precise, but can be helpful in pinch. I like my 8.

Thanks for the input, I could see how that might be helpful.

Have both and prefer the 3...I dont like the way the 8 obscures the target and prefer the more precise aiming of the smaller dot.

I've never actually used the 8, but after seeing R243's 3 MOA, I ordered the same thing.  I like the feel of "precision", even though it's a shotgun.

Some people have mentioned being able to use the 8 MOA to judge distance by how much of a turkeys head is covered up.  I can see how that would be beneficial, but not worth the larger dot to me.

After seeing the pictures I think a partially obscured target would be bothersome for me, but I get why some would like the 8.

I understand what you're saying about the precision, I also feel like that would suit me better.

Also, if you ever wanted to put the sight on another gun that may require more precision the small dot would be better.  Not to throw a wrench in the works but have you looked at the vortex.  The vortex shares the same footprint as the burris but has several more light intensity settings.  The one thing that I dont care for on the burris that it only has 3 settings and dont always fit differing lighting situations well.  Good luck
