Longbeards and .680 choke
« on: March 26, 2016, 07:39:43 PM »
I tried the new 1 7/8oz longbeards in my Remington 870 with the .680 flush choke today. It gives a very good 6 to 8in pattern at 20 yards. It also does really well at 40 with a very even 20in group with good numbers in the 10. I didn't like how tight they shot through a .660 or .665 choke but through this one I can deal with.

Nice, I prefer a flush choke over an extended.

Gtown78, just bought this choke...a Carlton flush mount in 680 to try in my 870 with longbeards 6's. Do you know the number it is putting in 10"? I don't like the extended chokes....if I wanted a longer barrel would have bought one. Just don't look or feel right sticking out beyond the sight bead....just me no problem with others using them. What length barrel you using....mine is a 26".

good to know, I picked up a Baikal MP153 a couple of months ago and have a .680 flush choke for it. Going to try some LB's in it and see what happens
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

I tried a Carlson's .680 flush mount choke with LB #5's and #6's out of my Winchester Super X2. It was just ok. The #6's out of my Wrights #1 choke throws and absolutely incredible pattern at 40 yards.
