Went to fl over the weekend for the opener. Had minimal gobbling activity and almost no response to calls and decoys. Had beautiful weather but the birds just would not cooperate. Finally found a longbeard henned up in a field a made a move on him. Circled around the field they were crossing by practically wading through a swamp and set up where I thought they would exit. It took them 3 hrs to cross the field and make it to my position. Laid the hammer down on him at 45 yards and that was all she wrote. Not overly exciting but typical of those old call shy birds. Patience prevailed and I was rewarded with my best bird to date. 1 1/2 and 1 5/8" hooks and a 10 3/4" beard.
