Need Sight Opinions

I have one of the short barelled original tree bark Remington 11-87's. This gun was given to me after my Uncle who taught me how to turkey hunt passed away so it is very special to me to say the least. The gun has killed countless birds but the POI is high and right. It's hard to remember to "hold left" in the heat of the moment. All that being said I want to get a very good sight to put on it so I can solve this issue. The gun is not tapped for one already so I will be starting from scratch. I'm sure some of you have done this with this exact gun since it's so popular on here. My only concern is being able to see the dot and be able to focus on the turkey as well. Any suggestions?

Few questions are you wanting sights, red dot or a scope ?   Depending on your time frame before your season opens has a lot to do with what you can do. if you have time you could have it tapped for a rail and mount a red dot. A good red dot for the money is a Bushnell TRS 25. You could also look at saddle mounts with a red dot or a scope. a good scope is the Simmons Pro Diamond low power ..1.5 x 5 x 32. I have guns with saddle mounts with scopes and have had no problems with these and i'v got guns with rails and red dots also.

Well you can't go wrong with the Bushnell TRS 25 for around 80 dollars ..shop around on amazon and ebay for one..same on saddle mount. saddle mount will cost you less than 50 dollars..depending on which one you like..

My trs 25 has been good to me the last 3 years. I'm sure there are better ones out there but for the money you can't beat them in my opinion. I did have my receiver drilled and tapped. Other than your gun smith being backed up it doesn't take them long to do it.

I have 2 different types of truglo red dots on my turkey guns and love them both. They haven't failed me yet (knock on wood).

Another vote for the trs 25......compact, low profile, and like the others said, it's going to be really hard to beat it for the money

Is there a certain rail that is best with this trs-25? I'm going to go ahead and put one on my dads 835 as well.

Just a weaver rail will be fine..that TRS 25 fits weaver rails. If your taking the guns to a gunsmith for tapping he can tell you what will work the best. Just let him know what red dot your planning on using..

Try to work on the POI to match it to POA.   

After that, you might consider a Tru Glo, Hi Viz, or Williams gunsight made for a Remington.  You might consider one of the many scopes discussed in the Turkey Guns sub-forum, ranging from a Bushnell red dot TRS, a Tru Glo, a Leupold turkey scope, or a Burris Fast Fire III.
