Shoot the gun with the barrel dirty. Don't knock it until you try it. I clean mine then shoot 5-6 dove loads thru it before I pattern. Shot today and got 210 in 10" @40.

Wow. I believe that is the tightest factory loaded HW 7 pattern I have ever seen. Not a particularly forgiving pattern, but impressive as can be. I wouldn't want to hunt with it without an optic. Out of curiosity, what do the patterns look like when the gun is clean?

OP, thousands of rounds of HTL turkey loads have been shot through tight turkey chokes with NO damage whatsoever  (except to the heads of a few gobblers ). I shoot TSS out of both a 555 and 560 chokes, 1 5/8 loads of 9s, i also reload the Federal heavyweight 7s into an 1 5/8 3in 20ga load. No damage. Try the Trulock or Sumtoy, you won't be disappointed

I have two 1187 Compact 20s.  One will do 150-155 with a Hastings .562 Lead Only choke and the other will do 145-150 with a Carlson .575.  Neither gun would do much better than 100 with the SSX.

Awesome patterns! I'm about to make the switch to a 20 and have love my 11-87 12s except for the weight. Does anybody have a real world weight of a 11-87 youth with 21" vr barrel?

Mine with an IC .562, FF3 w/336 mount, and a V-pod bracket (mount?) weighs about 7.5 lbs best I can tell on my non-digital scale.
