I've decided to strip off the Duratouch that's turning to gunk on my stock and forend. 
Does anyone have a suggestion for a chemical or solvent that will help do this?

I think I am going to install the Mossy Oak Gun Skins in Mossy Oak Break Up ,that's the pattern on the gun.

It's a 2003 model ,not drilled and tapped...does the B Square mount work and does anyone have one they would sell?

Thinking about making the BPS my project gun...have a grandson that's 6'1, 225 lbs that's always admiring it...he can handle it no problem.

Any suggestions from you BPS hunters are appreciated.

Hey Mike, I did my bps 10 in the mossy oak skins in bottomland and it turned out pretty good. I didn't do the barrel though. If I remember right the barrel piece wasn't quite big enough to cover it completely so I left it off. It has the satin black barrel so it still looked good to me. I have a B-Square mount that works pretty good and held zero perfectly. If your interested in it let me know if you can't find one. I don't know what you could use to strip that stuff off, maybe heat with a hairdryer and try peeling it up?

Got the gun disassembled and started on the stock...using some Deep Woods Off 40% Deet for a solvent...scraping with a sharp hunting knife. a mess but just about have the stock done. a standard black synthetic  underneath. Using an old bronze bore brush for a .410 in my cordless drill in the checkering. Going to try some non toxic paint stripper next.

Ordered the Mossy Oak Gun Skins....the entire gun was factory  Mossy Oak Break Up so ordered that kit....gun should look pretty good when done.

Have the Duratouch removed from the stock and for end.  Used a paint stripper to do this.
About 2-3 hours labor.

Got the Mossy Oak Gun Skins on last night...they are pretty straightforward to work with.

The bad news is that my 2003 BPS Mossy Oak Break Up is not the same pattern as the Mossy Oak Break Up sold in the Gun Skins...the new version has a lot of yellow leaves that the old pattern doesn't have...the old pattern colors are more like Mossy Oak Duckblind is today.

Oh well it's got camo on it that doesn't stick to my hands...will post some pics when I get the gun re-assembled.

Well the BPS 10 project is going from a safe queen to a turkey slayer.  In the two hunts I used it on in the past I used
a .690 Jellyhead and some old green hull, black brass Remington 6s. With that ammo it wasn't  impressive but killed two trophy toms.

Now  I am getting more serious....with Fed Heavyweight 7's would a non ported Trulock choke be a good choice and what exit diameter??

Also same question for Mag Blends.....choke recommendations.

That .690 Jellyhead might just work pretty good with those shells. The only htl i've shot was some of the old discontinued rem hevi shot in#6 and with a pure gold .680. I was getting around 160ish if I remember right. I always wanted to try the Magblends and Federal Heavyweight 7s, just never got around to it. I have been running a Kicks .690 with the old rem 4X6 duplex lead loads lately. It shoots point of aim with that combo with the bead so I have been using that as my rain day setup.

I have a buddie that dips guns for a living and he told me they make a solvent to take that dura touch off said it takes some work to get it off but it works, ward if he doesn't take that b square I would love to buy it.

I ended up using a home type  paint stripper and scraped it off with a knife and used old bronze cleaning brushes on the checkering.

It was a mess and took about 3 hours.

Now going thru the pain of re-assembling the BPS 10...I am to the last step of installing the trigger assembly...anyone have any tips on getting the shell stop bars to line up and stay in place so this can happen?

 I have used a dab of grease to hold them in place, but a rectangular rubber eraser twisted in  receiver bottom works well too. It can be a  frustrating job the first time trying to get them lined up for sure!

Got the BPS 10 back from gunsmith yesterday re-installed barrel, mounted a 4X Simmons scope on the B-Square mount  and headed to range to sight in. 

Used modified choke and steel shot loads to get it close and fine tuned with Remington Premier #4 Turkey loads.

I will do more range work with MagBlends later. The Remington 4's put up a very good , even hunting pattern with the .690 Jellyhead. I have a non ported Hastings .700 on the way also.

She looks pretty wild with three different camo patterns on her....Mossy Oak Break Up  original on barrel and receiver, New Mossy Oak Break Up  on stock.and fore end, Mossy Oak Duckblind on the saddle mount!

Good deal! I sent you a pm before I saw this post, oops! Glad you were able to get it all back together and hit the range. Those Hastings chokes are supposed to shoot pretty well and a .700 constriction could be near perfect with htl.       mike
